Darwin- Really An Evolutionist?

Charles Darwin. The man's name alone has given some Judeo-Christian world view holders goosebumps. But was he really an Evolutionist? Let's explore the facts:
1. Darwin did not know that a cell was as complex as modern man knows it to be.
2. Darwin grew up with a freethinking father and a Unitarian mother.
3. He was delighted by the logic and language of "Evidences of Christianity"
4. Until he read Lyell's book while on The Beagle he was interested in books that had to do with an all-powerful Creator who made the universe.
5. “I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion out of them!” -Charles Darwin.
6. “To suppose that the eye…could have been formed by natural selection seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.” -Charles Darwin.

As Darwin went through his life, he went through all of the mountains and valleys that normal people do, but his were just more popular. His freethinking father and Unitarian mother both influenced him but in the end, when he finally found out how complex something that seems as simple to us as an eyeball, he completely revoked the idea of natural selection. All people believe in microevolution but Charles darwin himself believed that macroevolution was untrue. It makes you think about what you believe when even the creator of a "religion" didn't believe in what he said.
